Popgun Summer #3

In an effort to avoid dwelling on horrible things about life and as a distraction from work (and because this kind of shit is fun to me, however sad that is), I have created a new Popgun Summer mix-'tape'.  There's no zine to accompany it this time and it probably will never exist as a cassette, but it's still pretty fucking rad.  Certainly the best of the three in my opinion, though I'm probably not a good judge of my own work.

'Side A' is more uptempo and songy, while 'Side B' is more sort of dreamy and long-winded I guess.

Here it is:

I will write out the track-listing later if anyone would particularly like to see it.  You kids have all got that thing on your phone these days anyway, right?  You know that thing I mean.

Right.  Don't let the Summer pass you by again is my advice.  Switch off your computer.  Let's make this precious.

Popgun Summer #1

As promised, here is the mix from the first Popgun Summer zine.  Honestly, there was nothing better to do in Taunton (Somerset) during the heady Summer of 2005 than put this thing togeter.  Just as there is nothing better to do in Wymeswold (Leicestershire) RIGHT NOW than make mp3s of old compilation tapes for nobody to listen to.

You can tell that this tape was made when I was deep in the grip of my K Records phase, so apologies if it's a little on the twee side in places.  It's still got some stone cold Summer classics on it though, and the segue from 'Rockaway Beach' to 'Here Comes The Summer' on the original tape was one of the greatest successes in my illustriuous mixtape making career!

Alright.  Here's the A side:

and here's the tracklisting:

The way my dissertation is going at the moment, there is a strong chance of Popgun Summer issue 3 coming your way pretty soon...

Stay rad everyobody.

Popgun Summer #2

Inspired by the recent clement weather (and the fact that Wired Radio doesn't seem to exist anymore) I thought I'd find something else to post on the blog, so here is an electronic version of the summer themed compilation CD which came with the second edition of Popgun Summer.

Popgun Summer was a zine that AC Jones and I published two editions of between 2005 and 2007.  It was pretty silly, but it was a fun way to while away some time during the summers I spent in two of Britain's shittest little towns.  Each zine came with a summer themed mix tape (#1) or CD (#2).  If I am looking for another way to put off doing work at a later point this summer, maybe I'll make and upload a mix of the cassette too.  It was pretty fucking rad as I recall...

Here is the stream, which you can also download:

And here is the tracklisting:

Any questions?

Wednesday, 23 March 2011

The show this evening did not broadcast on www.wiredradio.co.uk, which is a fairly common problem.  Even more annoyingly, though, the show also wasn't recorded, so nobody other than Benen and I heard the show and nobody ever will.  Which is a bit of a shame 'cause we strung together some pretty nice links tonight I thought.

Ho hum.  Radmobile 5.7 is lost in the ether, but Radmobile 5.7B is available here:

This is a totally half-arsed, slipshod attempt to vaguely recreate the track-listing of the original show, minus the tracks that Benen picked, which I couldn't remember the name of.  Hopefully this will tide people over while they wait for next week's show, which hopefully might actually reach an audience of more than two...

Alright.  Stay rad everybody.

Latest Episode (5.6)

Yo.

Tonight's show was super fun and only slightly marred by glaring technological/human errors.

You can stream and download for a week at www.soundcloud.com/radmobile/radmobile-5-6.  And download at (theoretically) any point into the future over at http://www.mediafire.com/?vzce7zr5kvr21

There's loads of stuff that I wanted to play tonight which will carry over to next week, but feel free to make any requests and we'll try and squeeze them in.  Also some Nate Dogg next time.  RIP.

Latest Episode (5.5: 9/3/11)

Hello hello.
You can now stream and download the latest show at http://soundcloud.com/radmobile/5_5.  Apologies for the delay in posting this, which was caused by legal wranglings with Rough Trade.  Apologies also for the slightly more shamoblic than usual show.

Please feel free to post any requests for next week's show, though bear in mind that we may also feel free to ignore them.

Be excellent to each other.
